W. Edwin Mims photograph collection, 1886-1967.

This collection consists of photographs relating to the Central of Georgia Railroad, dating 1886-1967, with some undated images. Most of the photos are of engines; however there are a few images of shops and yards. Photos of named trains include the "Nancy Hanks II" and the "Southwind." The photographs in this collection are all copy prints; there are no original photos. These copy prints were reproduced from several photograph albums compiled by W. Edwin Mims. The albums contain photographs purchased from various railroad collections, photographs taken by his father, W. H. Mims, and photos taken by W. E. Mims himself. The collection inventory has been sorted in three ways: by locomotive number, by date of photograph, and by location of photograph. A few of the photographs have additional information photocopied from the original Mims albums. A list of those photos follows this finding aid. A second list records the original source, if known, for many of the photographs.
